Pistons big man Andre Drummond got a soccer-style assist from Steve Nash on an alley-oop in the 2016 Slam Dunk Contest

Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond was by far the largest competitor in the 2016 NBA Slam Dunk Contest on NBA All-Star Saturday Night, but that didn’t stop the big man from throwing a little bit of finesse into his dunking. Of course, he was able to do so with probably the best Canadian NBA player of all time in Steve Nash.

Dressed in street clothes, the multi-talented Nash put the ball on the ground and threw up a rainbow out of his arsenal of soccer skills as an alley-oop for the big man. It took them a couple of tries to get in-sync, but when he finally did, it was a thing of freaking beauty:

Even if that took several attempts to eventually pull off, that doesn’t make it any less impressive in it’s completion—even if Nash being able to pull that type of pass off by using his soccer skills is part of how impressive it is.

Still, you have to give some props to Drummond for thinking up such a dunk and then having the ability to ultimately finish it off after a couple of tries. Unfortunately, the many attempts and a poor showing in his first dunk got Drummond eliminated as he didn’t make it to the finals of the dunk contest.
