Looking to make his way back into the NBA, Jimmer Fredette has made a huge impact in the D-League

What a strange journey it has been for Jimmer Fredette. Once a star in the making, Fredette has been primarily playing in the NBA Developmental League. That did not seem to stop him however, as he has continued to show he deserves to be in the NBA.

His determination has been somewhat validated, as he became the MVP of the D-League All-Star Game.

Jimmer scored 35 points for the East as they defeated the West 128-124. This outing may have been the best way for the 26-year old to make his long-awaited return to superstardom. In an ESPN interview, Jimmer talked about his chances for a return to the NBA:

"“You’re always hopeful. Everybody in this league, that’s what their dream is. They want to get back or into the NBA, or further their career. That’s what this league is for, and I’m no different.”"

Before he was in the NBA, Jimmer dominated in college as a member of the BYU Cougars. He was then selected as the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Fredette was immediately traded to the Sacramento Kings. As a member of the Kings, “Jimmermania” ran wild (brother) for a few seasons. Jimmer played well, but was not able to help the struggling team advance. On February 27, 2014, Fredette’s contract was bought out by the Kings. After that, his luck continued to turn south.

Fredette signed with the Chicago Bulls during the middle of the 2013-2014 season. He has since signed with the Pelicans and then the Spurs. After a short stint with the Westchester Knicks, he re-signed with the Pelicans before returning to Westchester. Throughout this season, Jimmer has averaged 22.6 points and 4.8 assists for the Westchester Knicks.

The New York Knicks are currently 23-32 and are 12th in the Eastern Conference. While he may not be the legitimate answer, Jimmer may provide an opportunity to the struggling team. Fans have been waiting for something exciting to happen, and Jimmer may provide that excitement. There was “Linsanity”, and I’m sure a little “JimmerMania” wouldn’t hurt.

I would also love to see Jimmer, Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony go shot-for-shot with one another. Make it happen Knicks!
