NBA trade rumors: Carmelo Anthony says he’s ‘not going anywhere’
Carmelo Anthony did a radio interview on Saturday and stated that the trade rumors around him are false.
The New York Knicks only have 23 wins and look like a sure shot to miss the postseason once again. Since Anthony joined the Knicks following a trade from the Denver Nuggets in 2011, the Knicks have made it to the postseason only twice and advanced to the second round on one occasions.
With the NBA trading deadline on Thursday, rumors began to swirl about a potential three-way deal that would send Kevin Love to the Boston Celtics and Anthony to the Cleveland Cavaliers, to join forces with LeBron James. However, Anthony spoke about any potential trades on Friday during an Sirius XM radio interview and was blunt, per ESPN.
"“There’s always some trade s— going [on],” Anthony said Saturday during an interview on Sirius XM NBA Radio. “I’m not going anywhere.”"
Since Anthony has a full no-trade clause, he can say that and put a stop to things. Despite being on a losing team with no good players outside of Kristaps Porzingis, Anthony wants to see things through in New York, the city he was born in before moving as a child to Baltimore.
"“I want to win a championship. At this point in my career, that’s the only thing that I really care about,” he said. “But I’m not, I mean, there’s nothing out there for me right now. … I’m not even entertaining no trade talk right now.”"
It seems as though Anthony’s best chance would be to waive his no-trade clause should an opportunity come up to play with James. At this point, it also might be LeBron’s only chance with the way the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are playing out West.
