According to several sources, the Chicago Fire have traded Harry Shipp to the Montreal Impact.

While it hasn’t been the most exciting offseason for Major League Soccer, there have still been significant moves made. On Saturday, one of the biggest trades broke as it was reported that the Chicago Fire have traded talented youngster, Harry Shipp, to the Montreal Impact. According to Fire Confidential, the Fire will receive both general allocation money and targeted allocation money in exchange for Shipp.

Shipp became the Chicago Fire’s third ever Homegrown Player in 2014, and has impressed in his time at the club. In his two seasons playing in MLS, he featured in 66 league matches, starting in a total of 55 of them and scoring 10 goals.

The Fire finished dead last in all of MLS last season, finishing with a total of 30 points. However, the team have decided to go in a new direction for the 2016 campaign, hiring a new head coach, Veljko Paunović.

Shipp will likely play alongside Montreal’s star Designated Player, Didier Drogba, who has already confirmed he will be back in Quebec for the upcoming season. Drogba joined the Impact in August last season, and helped lead them to a third place finish in the Eastern Conference standings. He also helped them win their first ever playoff match, defeating their biggest rivals, Toronto FC, in the opening round.

Montreal will kick off the 2016 MLS regular season on March 6, when they travel to Vancouver to take on the Whitecaps.
