Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III passed his exit physical, which will set up his release from the team.

The new league year for the NFL begins on March 9, but teams are already positioning themselves for moves before the new league year begins. One of the expected moves to be made soon is the Washington Redskins releasing quarterback Robert Griffin III.

With the emergence of Kirk Cousins and the Redskins making the playoffs last season, the team is expected to finally move on from Griffin. Griffin is due $16.155 million in 2016, which becomes guaranteed if he’s on the roster March 9, so the Redskins are expected to release him soon.

Before the Redskins can release Griffin, he had to pass an exit physical. According to Albert Breer, Griffin passed the exit physical and that will allow the Redskins and Griffin a chance to part ways. The move has been long expected and there will certainly be plenty of suitors looking at him for a backup role.

After multiple injuries, Griffin was never able to recover as the quarterback in Washington. He didn’t cause any trouble in his backup role and remained a professional throughout the whole process.

The big question now is where does Griffin end up?
