Pierre-Luc Dubois, a projected top 10 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, has been suspended by the QMJHL until further notice.

Cape Breton Screaming Eagles forward Pierre-Luc Dubois has seen his draft stock skyrocket thanks to huge 2015-2016 season. Many believe that he will end up being drafted in the top 10 and could see himself drafted in the top seven. However, Dubois will now have a red flag on his resume as he has been suspended by the QMJHL until further notice after a dirty hit on Friday night.

Dubois is a very talented forward who has the potential to be an elite power forward. However, he plays with a mean streak and that hurts him from time to time. This incident shows why teams might back off from drafting him.

That’s a completely unnecessary hit. It’s deliberate boarding as Dubois hit Saint John Sea Dogs defenseman Luke Green into the boards from behind despite being several feet from the boards. Green had to leave the game and will miss time with an undisclosed injury.

Pierre-Luc Dubois is an incredible talent but he has to mature and stay away from these kinds of incidents. This shouldn’t hurt his draft stock too much as he has 99 points (42 goals and 57 assists) in 62 games, but this incident combined with his 112 penalty minutes could mean that he will fall to the bottom part of the top 10. Dubois has far too much talent to be drafted outside of the top 15.
