A look at the March Madness bracket after Iowa State advances on to the Sweet 16

Last season there were a lot of people that believed the Iowa State Cyclones would not only make the Final Four, but they also had a shot at the national championship. Those dreams were dashed early with a shocking first round loss.

Well, it looks as if those people might have been about a year off with their prediction of Iowa State at least making a run.

On Saturday, the Cyclones defeated one of the Cinderella stories from the First Round, Arkansas-Little Rock, and with the win they will not be advancing along to the Sweet 16.

As you can see, Iowa State started their journey on Thursday with the win over a team many thought might upset them, Iona, and now they’ve taken down another feel-good story.

But as you can also see, the journey will not get easier from here by any means. The Cyclones will now await the winner of Virginia and Butler which is also being played on Saturday. Both of those teams will provide a pretty big threat, so it won’t be as easy as the first two games were.

Nonetheless, for now, Iowa State can be proud that they’ve made it all the way to the Sweet 16, which is an accomplishment in itself for any college basketball team.
