The New York Rangers will likely come up short in their journey for their first Stanley Cup win since 1994.

Entering the 2015-2016 NHL season, many people listed the New York Rangers as their Stanley Cup favorites. It was justified at the time, since they had just come off a season that saw them lose to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals. However, things did not go quite as well as planned. They will always have a chance with elite goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, but even with him, their chances look awful at best.

Here are five reasons why the Blue Shirts will not live up to their lofty Stanley Cup or bust expectations that existed at the beginning of the season.
