The Minnesota Timberwolves will have their pick of the litter in hiring their next head coach. Here are five reasons that coach should be Tom Thibodeau.

While the Minnesota Timberwolves had been the NBA’s forgotten Western Conference team for most of the last decade, it seems that there won’t be a better head coaching job available than with the Timberwolves this offseason.

Minnesota fired interim head coach Sam Mitchell at the end of the 2015-16 NBA season and have one of the most exciting up-and-coming rosters in the game. Karl-Anthony Towns could make the All-NBA Third Team as the league’s unanimous Rookie of the Year. Andrew Wiggins is a 25+ PPG scorer already out on the wing. Zach LaVine offers unheard of athleticism, and even veteran point guard Ricky Rubio is only 25 years old.

For those reasons, Minnesota will be able to land whomever they want as their next head coach. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical of Yahoo! Sports, the Timberwolves’ two primary targets to replace Mitchell as head coach are former Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, as well as former New York Knicks and Houston Rockets head coach Jeff Van Gundy.

While either Thibodeau or the younger Van Gundy brother would certainly do a phenomenal job, here are five reasons that Minnesota should make a no-brainer hire and bring Thibodeau to the Twin Cities as their next head coach.
