Seattle Seahawks shutdown corner Richard Sherman and New England Patriots All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski appear in several Oberto Beef Jerky commercials.

The Seattle Seahawks loud-mouthed, shutdown cornerback Richard Sherman and the best tight end in the game, the New England Patriots Rob Gronkowski, appear in 10 short web commercials for Oberto Beef Jerky. The commercials basically consist of the two goofing around, talking and eating beef jerky.

From having some fun with X-Ray specs sitting on recliners in a garage somewhere to enjoying all that snuggies have to offer, Sherman and Gronkowski seem to have struck gold with their series of web advertisements. There are 10 short video clips in all. The All-Pro NFL superstars do other things, too, like play kazoos and battle one-on-one with Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.

Sherman spoke with Yahoo! Sports about the series of YouTube commercials. “In some ways we’re an odd couple. It was one of those things where opposites attract,” he said. “This gave me another perspective of who he was, in a positive way.”

Sherman and Gronkowski squared off in Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, Arizona. Both NFL stars are in the midst of their prime, as they enter their late 20s. Both starred in the then Pac-10 around the same time before becoming superstars in the NFL. Sherman was a physical press corner for Jim Harbaugh’s Stanford Cardinal. Gronkowski caught both some rays and passes playing tight end in Tuscon for the Arizona Wildcats.

While Sherman is probably right in that he and Gronkowski are some what of “an odd couple” to appear in a commercial spot, they do have more in common that what meets the eye. Both will have to play at an All-Pro level for their respective teams to contend for a trip to Super Bowl LI this season, being played at NRG Stadium in Houston. Maybe the beef jerky duo will even have a rematch for the Lombardi Trophy this February.
