New York Islanders vs. Florida Panthers

The New York Islanders and Florida Panthers will break a 2-2 tie in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference first round playoff series on Friday night at the BB&T Center.

After the first four games of the series featured wide-open offense, the Panthers tightened up defensively in a 2-1 win in Wednesday’s Game 4 to earn a split at the Barclays Center. Alex Petrovic scored his first goal in over 100 games midway through the third period for the game-winner.

In even better news for the Panthers, Jaromir Jagr played his best game of the series, including registering his first point on an assist. Reilly Smith has made up for Jagr’s lack of production with four goals in the series.

While the Islanders struggled offensively against Florida’s size in Game 4, they kept it close thanks to backup goalie Thomas Greiss, who has done a terrific job in place of the injured Jaroslav Halak. John Tavares has been providing the offense for New York with seven points in the series.
