Patriots post picture of Tom Brady on Instagram at start of NFL Draft (Photo)

The New England Patriots posted a cryptic photo of Tom Brady as the NFL Draft began.

On Thursday night, the 2016 NFL Draft kicked off with the Los Angeles Rams taking quarterback Jared Goff and the Philadelphia Eagles picking fellow quarterback Carson Wentz. Things went about as expected.

However, as the draft went live, the New England Patriots, who do not have a pick in the first round, posted this cryptic photo of Tom Brady on Instagram.

The timing of this isn’t much of a coincidence. The Patriots lost their 2016 first round pick from the 2015 DeflateGate controversy, but more importantly, Tom Brady’s 4-game suspension was overturned and he will now be sitting out the first quarter of the 2016 NFL season. This comes after his suspension was revoked days before the 2015 season.

The Patriots are clearly upset with the NFL for the ongoing DeflateGate nightmare still going on. It’s one that New England may want to get away from as soon as possible but it’s something that is unavoidable as their missing presence from the first round (plus only having 31 picks on the opening day of the draft) is noticeable.
