Looking at the Carolina Panthers selections on Day 2 of the 2016 NFL Draft

While the Carolina Panthers looked like one of the most dominant teams in the NFL for the 2015 NFL regular season and ran through the NFC on the way to the Super Bowl, they fell short on the biggest stage in the biggest game as they were defeated by the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. However, the Panthers now have an offseason to retool and their best option for doing that started on Thursday with Day 1 of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Though they were picking at the end of Round 1 on Thursday with the No. 30 overall pick, the Panthers identified a player who just fits into the mold that they like as a team on their defensive line in Louisiana Tech defensive tackle Vernon Butler. Butler is the enormous and powerful ballhawk on the line that Carolina always seems to have on their line. Now it’ll be curious to see where the Panthers go starting with Day 2 of the draft on Friday, especially considering things like the recent departure of Josh Norman.

Things stay relatively standard for the Panthers as Day 2 of the 2016 NFL Draft gets underway. Carolina owns their pick in both the second and third round and will then be making their selections at the No. 62 overall pick and then the No. 93 overall pick. The defending NFC champs could make some noise in Day 2 or they could stay quiet. Fans will have to just wait and see.
