Looking at the Indianapolis Colts selections on Day 2 of the 2016 NFL Draft

The missteps of the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL Draft (and otherwise) in recent history have been widely publicized. With that in the back of people’s minds, you had to wonder what they had in store for everyone as they entered the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft on Thursday. Perhaps surprisingly, the Colts made a smart, relatively unexciting selection with the No. 18 overall pick as they took center Ryan Kelly out of Alabama to address a dire need on the interior of their offensive line.

Offensive line isn’t the only place that the Colts have holes throughout their roster that they need to address in the 2016 NFL Draft, though. While they could still use depth there in that regard going forward, Indianapolis could also stand to beef up their core of linebackers and could definitely benefit from adding something more than just a warm body to their secondary at both safety and cornerback.

Though the Colts have only six total picks throughout the entirety of the 2016 NFL Draft, they have a pick in both rounds that will play out on Friday in Day 2 of the draft. They’ll be making their first selection of the day at No. 48 overall midway through Round 2 and then will make their other selection more toward the later part of Round 3 with the No. 82 overall selection. What the Colts do with both will be fascinating to watch.
