A look at who the Buffalo Bills selected in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The 2016 NFL Draft has wrapped up with over 200 selections being made over a three-day span. These players are seen as the future of the NFL and could provide an immediate impact.

The Buffalo Bills came into the draft having to address a few needs. Rex Ryan always likes having a stout defense, but it wasn’t up to his usual standards in 2015. He made this clear by focusing on front seven, among other holes on the roster that were addressed.

Here is a look at who the Bills selected in the draft.

  • Round 1 (19) – Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson
  • Round 2 (41) – Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama
  • Round 3 (80) – Adolphus Washington, DT, Ohio State
  • Round 4 (139) – Cardale Jones, QB, Ohio State
  • Round 5 (156) – Jonathan Williams, RB, Arkansas
  • Round 6 (192) – Kolby Listenbee, WR, TCU
  • Round 6 (218) – Kevon Seymour, CB, USC

Ryan has a strong connection with Clemson, as his son plays for the school. So the Bills taking Lawson with their first pick shouldn’t come as a surprise. Lawson will also join an already strong defensive line and should provide a solid presence in a rotation.

The other standout pick here is Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones. If this was the 2015 draft, he might have gone a few rounds higher given his performance in the College Football Playoff. With a poor performance in last season, however, his stock fell.

The Bills were willing to take a shot on him, though. He’ll develop behind starter Tyrod Taylor, who had a solid season in 2015, but doesn’t have a proven track record. If he falters, Jones could be waiting in the wings. The 23-year-old will first have to work to become a more accurate passer first before getting this shot.
