Looking at the San Diego Chargers Day 3 selections in the 2016 NFL Draft

Say what you will about how the San Diego Chargers have approached the 2016 NFL Draft in regards to valuing certain players in relation to where they were picking in a given round, but they knew what their biggest needs as a team were entering the draft and they’ve addressed them with their selections.

This of course started on Day 1 when they used the No. 3 overall pick to take defensive end Joey Bosa out of Ohio State. The Chargers desperately needed a playmaker and pass-rusher on the defensive line or the edge and Bosa gives them that—even if he might’ve been taken a couple of spots higher than expected.

San Diego then addressed a need at tight end by selecting Hunter Henry in the early second round before then turning to their need on the interior of the offensive line by selecting Max Tuerk in Round 3.

Now the Chargers will look to attack Day 3 with the same strategy with five selections on the day. They have the fourth pick in Round 4 (No. 102 overall), pick No. 38 in Round 5 (pick No. 175 overall), picks No. 4 and 23 in Round 6 (No. 179 and 198 overall) before finishing their draft with the No. 3 pick in Round 7 (No. 224 overall).
