NBA Rumors: Frank Vogel, Pacers have not talked contract extension

After their loss to the Raptors, is there a chance that Frank Vogel is not returning to the Pacers next year?

Sunday night after a thrilling seven-game series, the Indiana Pacers were bounced from the first round of the NBA Playoffs by the Toronto Raptors, dropping Game 7 by a score of 89-84. Now that the 2015-16 season has come to a close for the Pacers, there are a lot of questions surrounding the organization, including whether or not Frank Vogel will be returning as head coach next season.

Apparently, Vogel not making his way back to the team is a real possibility, as his contract expires at the end of the NBA season, and thus far, there have been no talks between he and management about extending the deal currently in place.

Vogel has been the full-time coach of the Pacers since the beginning of the 2011-12 season. He took over on an interim basis during the 2010-11 campaign following the firing of Jim O’Brien and was eventually given the gig for good. In the five years that he has been the full-time coach of the Pacers, he’s led the team to the playoffs four times, which includes two trips to the Eastern Conference Finals.

This is the first time as a full-time coach, however, that he has had his team bounced in the first round. With the plethora of young talent on this roster, there is a good chance that management in Indiana sees this as unacceptable, therefore not wanting to talk an extension with him.

Whatever the case may be, it seems as if we’re headed for quite the interesting off-season with the Pacers coming up this summer.
