Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Islanders

After splitting the first two games of their Eastern Conference Semifinal playoff series, the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Islanders will head to the Barclays Center for a critical Game 3 on Tuesday night.

The Lightning recovered from a lackluster showing in a 5-3 Game 1 loss with a much better all-around effort in Saturday’s 4-1 Game 2 win. Tyler Johnson scored twice and added an assist to up his playoff point total to 11, while Jonathan Drouin found the back of the net for the first time this postseason.

Slow starts hurt the Islanders again, as two of Tampa Bay’s first six shots found their way past Thomas Greiss. The Islanders actually controlled play for much of the second period, but were turned away by Lightning goalie Ben Bishop, who recovered from a rough Game 1.

Islanders center John Tavares tallied a goal and an assist in Game 1 to raise his postseason point total to an NHL-leading 11. However, the Lightning did a great job containing him on Saturday, particularly on the penalty kill.
