The Anaheim Ducks have given the Ottawa Senators permission to interview their former head coach Bruce Boudreau.

After being fired by the Anaheim Ducks, Bruce Boudreau said that he would prefer to find a new head coaching job quickly. Teams have already come calling asking the Ducks for permission to interview Boudreau since Boudreau still had a year left on his contract when he was fired. The Ottawa Senators are one of those teams.

Boudreau would be a terrific fit in Ottawa. He’s everything that they need in a head coach. Boudreau is an experienced and talented head coach who would end the seemingly eternal head coaching carousel that the Senators have had throughout their existence. Ottawa has a talented roster that Boudreau would utilize and he should help them become immediate contenders. It’s quite fun to think what Boudreau could do with a perennial Norris Trophy candidate in Erik Karlsson.

However, will Ottawa be willing to dish out the big bucks necessary to persuade Boudreau to coach them? Boudreau has every right to demand to be well compensated for what he does as one of the best head coaches in the NHL. The Senators have a very strict budget and have been stingy on paying their head coaches, especially as of late. If Ottawa is willing to pay Boudreau a high salary, they will likely not regret it.
