The Golden State Warriors rallied to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 2 of the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

34. Final. 110. 41. 99

After cruising to an easy win Game 1 against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Golden State Warriors had to scratch and claw to keep pace with the Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.

The Trail Blazers, who struggled to find their shot in the first battle of the series, came out blazing early against the Warriors and dropped 34 points after one quarter of play. That was the most any team had scored in the first frame against the Warriors this season.

After not having any range in the first game of the series, Damian Lillard came out hot from beyond the arc in Game 2. His shooting from deep allowed the Trail Blazers to build a double-digit lead, while the Warriors tried to close the gap.

While the Trail Blazers shooting was taking over, the Warriors started using a different lineup with Festus Ezeli, that made a huge difference down low. With Ezeli providing a little more offensive spark than what Andrew Bogut brings, the Trail Blazers defense suddenly got spread out, which allowed three men to take charge. The wing trio of Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes and Andre Iguodala really began to lock down on both sides of the floor and get to the line on offense.

This allowed Golden State to finally cut the deficit and take the lead late in the fourth behind some huge threes from Klay Thompson. Getting hot at the right time, the Warriors had a series of huge blocks from Green that led to open shots on the other end and the Trail Blazers began to lose control of the game.

Shaun Livingston would hit a huge shot to extend the Warriors’ newfound advantage to seven and the Oracle Arena sensed the comeback win. After some free throws and a big slam, the Warriors would cap off the win and take a commanding 2-0 series lead.
