NHL Playoffs: When is Stars vs. Blues Game 5?

The Dallas Stars  will once again host the St. Louis Blues at the American Airlines Center on Saturday, May 7 at 1:00 PM ET.

Cody Eakin put a shot under the crossbar in OT to give the Stars a 3-2 win over the Blues in Game 4, tying the series 2-2.

After a miserable Game 3, in which the Stars were slaughtered 6-1, Dallas needed a win to rebuild confidence and save its run in the postseason. Certainly the first period was a rough start for the Stars: they botched a basic line change by putting six men on the ice instead of five but still could not defend their zone from Vladimir Tarasenko (note: they weren’t even close).

Fortunately, Kari Lehtonen played brilliantly in the crease tonight, preventing any further embarrassments from occurring.

Radek Faksa put Dallas on the board at the start of the second period, capitalizing on a giveaway by Joel Edmundson.

The game remained neck-and-neck with little aggression throughout the remaining 60 minutes of regulation, with little physicality and much caution. However, those few minutes in overtime were the tensest the series has seen so far. The stress, however, did not last long: less than three minutes into extra time, Eakin got the puck in St. Louis’ net and won the game for Dallas.

Game 3 unquestionably tells story of redemption for Dallas: Lehtonen made 24 impressive saves, Eakin became a hero, the Stars are no longer a disgrace, etc. With the series now tied and returning back to Texas, there’s no doubt they will use this as momentum going into Game 5.

The Blues will try to reclaim their lead in the series in Game 5 on Saturday, May 7 at 1:00 PM ET on NBC Sports Network.
