Frank Gore frustrated after not hitting goals in 2015

Not hitting 1,000 rushing yards last season has Indianapolis Colts running back Frank Gore frustrated.

The Indianapolis Colts have not had not had a 1,000-yard rusher in a season since Joseph Addai pulled off the feat all the way in 2007. Heck, they haven’t even had a running back go over 100 yards in a game in 50 matchups.

Frank Gore was brought in as a free agent last off season to rejuvenate the Colts’ rushing attack. Gore was not terrible, but his 3.7 yards per carry average was the worst of his 11-year career. Simply put, he did not look as powerful or explosive as he did for all of those years with the San Francisco 49ers.

Gore’s inability to break those streaks for the Colts was frustrating to him, especially considering he finished the year 967 yards on the ground.

"“I’m not over it,” Gore said, according to Mike Wells of ESPN. “I’m not going to be over it until I do it. I’ve been blessed that they kept me to get the opportunity to do it again. To go after my goals again, to be the one to get the 100 yards that they didn’t have in years. To get that 1,000-plus yards [in a season].”"

Gore has had a fantastic career. The 2016 season was only the third time he had not gone over 1,000 yards in a season, the first was when he had limited opportunity as a rookie, and the second came in 2010 when he only played in 11 games because of injury. While he is certainly fading, Gore is a great running back who has always been productive.

The odds may be slightly against him to reach that 1,000-yard mark again this season, but he is clearly determined to make it happen. Gore is a big, physical back, but will his body allow him to get back to his prior numbers.
