The Thunder are in the Western Conference Finals, but who will they be playing in their pursuit of a title in the NBA Playoffs?

The Oklahoma City Thunder entered their Western Conference semifinals series in the 2016 NBA Playoffs against the San Antonio Spurs as the underdogs without question. Despite the talent of the Thunder, the predominant belief all season had been that the Spurs would make it to the Western Conference Finals. The Thunder had other plans, though.

Despite being blown out in Game 1 of the series and falling behind 2-1 in the series, the Thunder put forth a magnificent nine quarters of basketball to win three consecutive games. That stretch concluded on Thursday night in Oklahoma City for Game 6 when OKC really took it to the Spurs in  major, major way.

After the emphatic victory, fans now have to rethink just how good this Thunder team is and how far they can go. Of course, those sorts of considerations start with the Western Conference Finals that are up next and who they’ll be playing. However, there are many fans who may have missed who the Thunder will be playing for the right to go to the NBA Finals.

Fans can get excited, though, as the Thunder will be taking on the defending NBA Champions in the Golden State Warriors. The Thunder and Warriors had some great battles in the regular season, so raising the stakes for the NBA Playoffs and the West Finals should make everything even better.
