With the draft over and training camps still months away, several NFL teams should take this time to re-evaluate their logos before next season.

Some things get better with age.

Cheese. Wine. Whiskey. Betty White.

Others, not so much

There’s a classic Joe Paterno quote: if you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse. And while many logos and uniform designs in professional athletics have lasted the test of time to become true classics and staples of American sports culture, others are in drastic need of a reboot.

No right mind would ever suggest revamping the Yankee pinstripes in baseball or jettisoning the unique orange parfait color from the Tennessee Volunteers. While most would agree that the first example is easier on the eyes than the second, we should all at least agree that both trademarks have reached exalted status as being iconic of their respective institutions.

Even in the ever-changing landscape of today’s NFL, certain concepts seemed destined for immortality. The five-pointed star of the Dallas Cowboys. Cheeseheads in Lambeau Field. Suffering in Cleveland, Ohio. (Although those Cavaliers are looking awfully good so far in the East…)

Elsewhere, however, are teams in dire need of a rebrand. Here are 5 NFL franchises that should use this relative “down time” during the offseason to rethink their logos and marketing strategies before September rolls around.
