Highlights and results from the Intercontinental Championship Fatal 4-Way between The Miz, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn at WWE Extreme Rules 2016

For the past couple of months, the WWE Intercontinental Championship has been one of the most coveted in the company throughout the roster. While The Miz has held onto since right after WrestleMania, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, and even Sami Zayn have all had their claims to getting a shot at the belt. That’s what led to the Fatal 4-Way match at WWE Extreme Rules 2016.

Sami Zayn wasted literally no time after the bell rang to go right at his rival in Kevin Owens. He charged him in the corner and immediately drilled him with his finishing Helluva Kick. Not to be left out of the fun, though, Cesaro then hit the champ in The Miz with an enormous uppercut to dispatch him.

That left Zayn and Cesaro in the ring together, which set up some crazy, high-flying action between those two. The Miz then tried to get involved, but that only led to Zayn going over the top and taking out both men:

Just as Zayn looked to be in firm control as he got back into the ring, though, Owens came to and was none too happy about how the match began. He then took out his frustrations on Sami:

It wasn’t long after that, though, that we got some insane multi-man spots. First, Miz locked up Zayn looking for a suplex when Cesaro then got both men for a huge double suplex:

That then led to all men getting into it in the corner to set up a massive Tower of Doom spot:

Owens and Zayn were then left in the ring together once again and again KO looked to end his rival, looking for a Pop-Up Powerbomb. Sami countered, though, to hit a half-and-half suplex. But his success was short-lived as Cesaro then caught him with a humungous pop-up uppercut:

After more furious action between all four men, it looked like Sami might get the big win at WWE Extreme Rules as he countered a Cesaro Powerbomb masterfully:

That was only good for two, though, and things went even crazier. Cesaro hit the Neutralizer on Owens, Miz hit Cesaro with the Skull-Crushing Finale, and everything in between.

At one point, Cesaro actually got Miz to tap out in the Sharpshooter, but Maryse had the ref distracted as it was happening. That then got Owens taken out with another Skull-Crushing Finale on the outside:

In the end, though, Zayn hit Cesaro in the corner with the Helluva Kick, but was pulled off the pin by an energized Owens. That then allowed the champ in The Miz to sneak in, cover Cesaro, and pick up the win.
