New York Mets starter Matt Harvey didn’t speak with the media after his latest bad start, and teammate David Wright didn’t defend that move.

The 2016 season hasn’t started off as expected for New York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey. Through his first 10 starts of the year, Harvey has a 3-7 record that includes losses in four of his last five games, to go along with an ERA of more than six runs a game.

After his latest loss, a 7-4 defeat Tuesday at the hands of the Washington Nationals, Harvey didn’t speak with the media (which the respectful media in New York City had no problem with at all … sarcasm, of course).

Harvey’s radio silence was asked about by the media to his teammates following Wednesday’s win by the Mets. Third baseman David Wright didn’t exactly have his pitcher’s back, according to the New York Post:

"Obviously, Harvey is going through a rough stretch, I think we’ve all been there. With that being said, I think the consensus is we should all be accountable for what we do on the baseball field. All of us like coming in here and talking when we have good games and a few of us, myself included, enjoy coming in here and talking when we don’t play well. Accountability is big and I think [Harvey] just had a bit of a lapse in judgement."

Matt Harvey has been at odds with the media after reports regarding a bladder infection that he suffered during spring training. Harvey is coming off a 2015 season in which he went 13-9 with an ERA under three runs (2.71) in helping the Mets reach the World Series for the first time since the 2000 season.

Matt Harvey’s next scheduled start is Monday, May 30th when the Mets host the Chicago White Sox.
