After rookie Alexander Rossi won the 2016 Indy 500, it’s no surprise that Twitter had some thoughts on the matter

The 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 was absolutely insane from pretty much start to bottom. While the favorites in the 2016 Indy 500 had a strong showing early on, it seemed like they were being picked off one-by-one. Before it was all said and done, though, it was rookie Alexander Rossi that was left coasting on fumes as he pushed his fuel to the limit to try and finish the race. In the end, the fumes were enough to push him to a victory in his first ever Indy 500.

With how much craziness that ensued throughout the race as guys like Ryan Hunter-Reay and Townsend Bell wreck on pit road while Juan Pablo Montoya wrecked as well, it’s only fitting that a rookie in Alexander Rossi would come away as the victor in his first ever race. It was truly a remarkable finish and run and, obviously, the Internet had things to say!

Here’s what Twitter had to say about a crazy Indy 500 and a rookie in Alexander Rossi winning his first run in the race:

We will indeed know the name of Alexander Rossi after he had to be towed into Victory Lane because he pushed his fuel mileage to the limit. This was an incredible running of the Indy 500, so it’s only fitting that something as wild as a rookie winning would be the finish!
