The Columbia Regional for the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament has been set.

One of the great things about the NCAA Baseball Tournament is the amount of interesting matchups that take place that might not normally be seen in college baseball. On Monday, the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament Selection Show placed 64 teams in 16 Regions and now those 64 will battle for the chance to make it to Omaha to compete at the College World Series.

One of the regions that was decided on Monday, was the Columbia Region. The No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks will be the host in Columbia and they will play No. 4 Rhode Island, as they hope to advance to the Super Regional.

The other battle is between the No. 3 Duke and No. 2 UNC Wilmington. While Duke is making their first appearance in several decades, this is ironically a rematch of the first round battle between the schools from the NCAA Basketball Tournament earlier this year.

Irony aside, each of these teams have fought hard to make it to Columbia and each and every single one of them is hoping that they can make it further than that this year.
