Taking a look at the Lubbock Regional for the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament after it was set on Monday

After being named one of the regional sites for the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament when those 16 sites were announced prior to the selection show, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were rewarded in a big way for their efforts in the regular season. They were given the No. 5 seed overall for the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament and are now looking to try and run through that region on their home field at Rip Griffin Park and get to Omaha—starting of course with winning the Lubbock Regional.

The only question that they had left to answer is who they would be welcoming to Lubbock for the regional bracket and would they continue to be dominant. Those questions were answered on Monday afternoon. Before even that, though, the biggest news was that the Lubbock Regional was paired with the Charlottesville Regional that could set up a matchup between the Red Raiders and the defending champs of the College World Series in Virginia.

Here’s a look at the Lubbock Regional for the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament:

Though there aren’t any teams that have the same pedigree in terms of name and talent as Texas Tech in this region, that’s a Dallas Baptist team that could be pesky and hard to get out and a New Mexico team that you shouldn’t sleep on either.
