The Cavaliers capitalized on Draymond Green missing from the Warriors defense in Game 5 as LeBron James and Kyrie Irving led the way to a big win

112. 156. 97. 41. Final

The Golden State Warriors have been near impossible to beat inside the confines of Oracle Arena over the past two seasons. However, it’s not too often inside Oracle when they have to take on a team the caliber of the Cleveland Cavaliers while their best defender and the heart of their team in Draymond Green is out suspended. That was the situation for Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night, though.

Right from the get-go, it was clear that the Warriors and Cavaliers were about to get into a shootout with not a whole lot of defense being played. Kyrie Irving and Stephen Curry played decently early on, but it was the play of LeBron James and Klay Thompson that carried most of the drama in the early-goings of the game on Monday night. This back-and-forth dueling lasted for the better part of the first three quarters.

LeBron continued to dominate in every facet of the game with Draymond not even in the building due to the suspension until the very end, though. But it was Irving who really iced it down the stretch when it looked like Steph and Klay might go all Splash Brothers for a moment. Kyrie knocked down some big buckets in the clutch to secure the victory and get the series headed back to Cleveland.
