Baylor regents reportedly held a meeting on Monday night about potentially bringing Art Briles back as head coach

To the shock and dismay of a lot of people out there, there has been word recently that the Baylor Bears football program could actually bring Art Briles back as head coach following a year suspension. At first it was just a rumor, but apparently this is really something that’s being looked into.

According to a report from KWTX, Baylor regents met on Monday night to discuss the possibility of bringing Briles back after a one-year suspension. Recently, Briles was suspended with intent to terminate following his alleged role in covering up rape cases within his program.

In the report, it states that the vote on the matter was “close,” which could mean bad news for people that were happy to see Briles get the boot from his spot.

This is a really slippery slope that Baylor is traveling down here with this. It looked like they were on the right track when they hired former Wake Forest football coach Jim Grobe to head up the program for at least one season, one of the more stand-up men in the game of college football. It appeared as if they were ready to distance themselves as far away from Briles as possible, which really was the best course of action.

But now, it’s really looking as if the people that hold the stroke within the Baylor football program might end up leting Briles reclaim his spot after sitting out a year.

Probably not the best move here.
