Here is why the Chicago Bulls made the right decision in trading Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks.

The Chicago Bulls traded away former NBA MVP Derrick Rose on Wednesday, in a five-player and one-pick swap where Rose lands with the New York Knicks. A native Chicagoan, Rose has always been special to Chicago, but injuries have desperately held his career back in recent years.

Along with Rose, the Knicks acquired guard Justin Holiday and a second-round pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft in exchange for center Robin Lopez and guards Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon heading to the Bulls.

The Bulls’ front office decided that the Rose era was over and the team needs to head in a new direction under head coach Fred Hoiberg. The Bulls are going to be led into this new era behind the strength of budding star Jimmy Butler, who will likely take on a larger role with Rose no longer in the fold.

There is a lot to unwrap here, and I understand that the thinking by both sides. That being said, the Bulls are the clear winners of this trade, and I am going to tell you why.
