Identifying the top high salary and value pitcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 24 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Max Scherzer, Nationals (13,900): You knew this was coming, didn’t you? Scherzer is always one of the top options when he pitches, though he never comes cheap. He’s reached double-digit strikeouts in three of his last four starts, and now draws a matchup with Milwaukee, which ranks second in the majors in strikeouts (684).

Steven Matz, Mets (10,600): New York enters play Friday having lost its last four games against the Atlanta Braves. Expect Matz, the Mets’ young left-hander, to put an end to that streak. This will be Matz’s third start this season against Atlanta, and had at least seven strikeouts in the previous two. Four pitchers cost more than Matz on Friday, so he’s actually priced pretty ideally.

High Value

Masahiro Tanaka, Yankees (8,800): Tanaka’s best start of June came in his last outing against the same opponent he faces Friday night — the Minnesota Twins. Tanaka struck out five and allowed just one run over eight innings. It’s been a lost season for the Twins, who enter play Friday with the majors’ worst record (23-49). Tanaka is a solid value option.

Jameson Taillon, Pirates (7,500): Taillon will make his fourth career start on Friday against a team that’s won six straight in the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, has lost three straight, but Taillon has shown great promise in the majors. Given the Dodgers’ recent success, Taillon is probably better suited for GPPs, but as he showed on June 14 against the Mets (8 IP, 2H, 0 R, 5 K), he can get it done.
