The Minnesota Timberwolves taking Kris Dunn was one the best picks in the 2016 NBA Draft, and here’s why.

With many twists and turns, the 2016 NBA Draft was an exciting event on Thursday night. Many NBA teams improved to a great extent as they look to increase their chances at a championship run.

With their selection of Kris Dunn with the fifth overall pick, the Minnesota Timberwolves were one of those teams who greatly improved.

At the time of the selection, Dunn seemed to be a pick made by Minnesota to dangle in trade offers. Both the Philadelphia 76ers, who had been pushing a strong package around Nerlens Noel, and the Chicago Bulls, who appeared to be shopping Jimmy Butler, seemed to have extreme interest in Dunn.

However, a deal never came through and Dunn appears to be the point guard of the future for the Wolves. While Ricky Rubio has become a great player for the Wolves, Dunn’s athleticism and defensive prowess made him a personal favorite of head coach Tom Thibodeau.

With Rubio on board, I understand Wolves’ fans who question bringing in another point guard at such a prominent pick, but Dunn is an incredible player who can take Minnesota to the next level.

Here are the five reasons why Dunn was a great pick for the Wolves.
