Herschel Walker thinks he can help NFL team at 54
Here we go again. Herschel Walker still thinks he can help an NFL team.
Herschel Walker may be in better condition than some NFL players who are half his age and that may be playing a part into his delusional thoughts that he can still help an NFL team.
Forget about the fact that Walker is 54 years old and hasn’t played in the NFL since 1997, the man still thinks he can be a difference-maker in the NFL where he’d be playing against people who weren’t even in kindergarten when he finished his playing career.
“I don’t think I can. I know I can,” Walker told Sporting News. “In a third-down situation, I could help a team out today. I could do a few things and do it well.”
I wouldn’t put it past the former Heisman Trophy winner out of Georgia to be able to hold up in pass protection for a play or two in a third down situation. I’m sure he could stand there and pick up a blitz and get in the way of a blitzing linebacker and his quarterback.
But to borrow a phrase from the Monday Night Countdown crew on ESPN, c’mon man!
We all know Walker is an exceptional athlete and is still training for a Bellator MMA fight but for some reason, we have to continue to go through this song and dance about Walker thinking he can help an NFL team.
How many people who are half Walker’s age are out of the NFL and trying to beat down the door to get a chance to help a team?
Just think, if 30 is considered retirement age for an NFL running back, being 54 is darn near ancient.
It’s a nice thought Herschel, but give it up already.
