Pop culture continues to blend with college recruiting, this time with Kansas coach David Beaty bragging about his hoverboarding skills.

Recruiting in college sports is a strange beast to tackle, and in order to be on top of their game, college coaches have to be on top of pop culture. This naturally leads to every head coach outside of Texas Tech’s Kliff Kingsbury looking like the dad that tries to be cool in front of his kid’s friends with his son or daughter looking on, exasperated and embarrassed. College sports has become an arms race of sorts. The more top recruits you can get to your program, the more material your coaches have to work with. In the current age we live in, this means appealing to a younger crowd. No one has done this more recently than David Beaty, who sent three-star wide receiver Reggie Roberson a video of himself bragging about his hoverboard prowess.

While Kansas has been mediocre to God-awful over recent years, Beaty seems to be finding some success on the recruiting trail. He landed five three stars and a four star for the Jayhawks in the 2017 recruiting class. Maybe more college football coaches should learn how to hoverboard.
