Yoenis Cespedes hit a moonshot of a home run on Thursday night.

The New York Mets have one of the worst offenses in baseball. Coming off a World Series appearance, there was high hopes for the Amazins, but injuries and remarkably poor hitting have hurt the team. Players like Lucas Duda and David Wright went down, while Michael Conforto, Curtis Granderson and others have not hit.

One of the few that have been productive is outfielder Yoenis Cespedes. He was acquired in a trade deadline deal in 2015, which propelled the offense. One year later, they need that same production from him.

A step in the right direction from the Mets offense was seen on Thursday night, as Cespedes hit this towering moonshot of a home run that landed in the third deck.

Home runs rarely reach that level at Citi Field. In fact, Cespedes had one of the few home runs that landed in the third deck at this stadium. He participated in the 2013 Home Run Derby and took advantage of left field’s three decks.

The Mets have relied on home runs throughout 2016, and for them to break out of this skid, they’ll have to continue to rely on them. Yoenis Cespedes will certainly be at the forefront of them.
