Identifying the top high salary and value first baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 1 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

David Ortiz, Red Sox (5,500): Oh, Ortiz is playing at home, against a subpar right-handed pitcher? Then play him! Seriously, Ortiz is almost always worth paying up for, and Friday night is no different. Boston, which hosts the Los Angeles Angels and veteran Jhoulys Chacin (3-6, 5.64 ERA), has one of the highest expected run totals of the night (6.1). Expect “Big Papi” to be heavily involved.

Brandon Belt, Giants (5,100): Belt is putting together a fine season at the plate for the first-place Giants, though his 10 home runs are a bit low. He has a great opportunity to increase that total, starting Friday at Chase Field against struggling Arizona Diamondbacks righty Shelby Miller (2-7, 6.79 ERA).

High Value

Justin Bour, Marlins (3,600): Bour is quickly establishing himself as a virtual must-start anytime he faces right-handed pitching. The Marlins’ 28-year-old slugger has four home runs in his last six games, and now draws a matchup with Atlanta Braves righty Julio Teheran (3-7, 2.46 ERA). All 15 of Bour’s home runs this season have come against righties, so he’s a solid value option.

Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers (3,200): The power has all but disappeared for this former 40-home run slugger. Gonzalez is on pace for his lowest average, home run and RBI totals since becoming a full-time major leaguer in 2006. But fear not — at least on Friday, he’s a viable fantasy play against struggling Colorado Rockies lefty Jorge De La Rosa (5-4, 6.47 ERA). “A-Gon” is 17-for-48 (.354) with six doubles and three home runs against De La Rosa. He’s worth a GPP flyer on Friday.
