Five players that the Boston Celtics should target in 2016 NBA free agency

Even the most ardent supporters of the Boston Celtics have to be looking at what happened in the 2016 NBA Draft with a string of question marks floating above their heads. Danny Ainge has spent all of this time acquiring assets for his team, but the draft was the time to capitalize on those assets with a big trade or something of the sort and he failed to do so.

That’s obviously disappointing to the fans and everyone around the organization, but it also spells out the immediate plan for the Celtics this offseason in a way. Essentially, this puts NBA free agency in big, bold letters for Boston, highlights those letters, and then increases the font size before highlighting it again just in case.

What that means is that 2016 NBA free agency is now pivotal for the Celtics if they really are trying to make this team a contender. Now would be the time to use some of these assets in a big sign-and-trade. Now is the time to not hold any punches and go after every big name free agent that makes since. If you’re the Celtics, now is the time.

Having said that, not all players in NBA free agency are created equal. There are a plethora of players that the Celtics could theoretically target this summer, but there are five that deserved to be singled out.

These are the five key players that the Celtics should target in NBA free agency 2016.
