What deals should the Houston Astros look to make prior to the 2016 MLB Trade Deadline?

The Houston Astros entered 2016 as one of the favorites in the American League. While their season has not gone exactly according to plan, the Astros are undoubtedly right in the thick of the postseason race at 48-41.

Houston trails the Texas Rangers by 5.5 games in the AL West, but they are only two games back in the wild card race. They are far from guaranteed a postseason spot, but the Astros will certainly figure in the AL mix.

The lineup, led by second baseman and AL MVP candidate Jose Altuve, has been strong, while the starting rotation has been inconsistent. Dallas Keuchel has turned around his performance in recent weeks, but the Astros could certainly make a move for a top-notch arm.

Houston may be hesitant to spend big to improve the team for only this season, but they have some impressive young prospects who would entice teams to move their veterans via trade.

The Astros may look to make a bulk of their improvements using players already under contract. Star infield prospect Alex Bregman in particular appears ready to come up and make an immediate impact for the Astros.

That being said, if they are series about making a World Series run in 2016, the Astros will have to make a buyers move or two at the MLB Trade Deadline.

Without further ado, here are five trades the Houston Astros should make prior to the July 31 MLB trade deadline.
