Justin Tucker celebrates new contract with Potbelly sandwiches
Justin Tucker was so happy that he signed a four-year extension with the Baltimore Ravens that he celebrated by buying his in-laws Potbelly sandwiches.
The Baltimore Ravens and kicker Justin Tucker were not expected to work out a long-term deal before the 4:00 p.m. EST deadline on July 15.
Tucker was franchise tagged by the Ravens but wanted to stay long-term. Just when things started look bleak, the two sides agreed on a four-year deal that will give Tucker the most guaranteed money among NFL kickers.
How did he celebrate that feat? By buying Potbelly sandwiches for his in-laws.
Nobody knows what it is with the Ravens and fax machines, but the Ravens clearly have some good luck with them. The Ravens were the beneficiaries of the Elvis Dumervil fax machine fiasco with the Denver Broncos. Now Tucker used a fax machine to finish off his new four-year deal. In this day and age, fax machines aren’t often used. But maybe the Ravens should keep using them because they clearly have some good karma with them.
Tucker’s new deal could be worth as much as $16.8 million over four years. He will be guaranteed $10.8 million, which includes a $6 million signing bonus. Tucker tops the previous record of $10.1 million held by New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski.
Tucker has been an integral part of the Ravens during his four-year career, helping the Ravens win Super Bowl 47 in his rookie year. Tucker made the Pro Bowl in 2013 and currently owns an 87.8 percent field goal percentage, second all-time to Dan Bailey of the Dallas Cowboys.
