Kevin Durant shocked the basketball world and chose to sign with the Golden State Warriors this summer during free agency. But, Tom Brady almost had him thinking otherwise.

There’s no secret that Kevin Durant is a huge fan of Tom Brady.

Just go look at all of the tweets that Twitter users dug up about Durant during the NBA’s free agency period this summer and you’ll likely see the one where Durant tweeted about Brady.

Apparently, Durant was a big fan of the Boston Celtics’ free agency pitch that included Brady and almost chose to join the Celtics because of Brady being at the meeting in The Hamptons.

Here’s Durant talking to reporters during the pre-Olympic training camp for Team USA on Brady and the Celtics’ pitch that almost convinced him:

"“I was ready to just say, ‘OK, let’s go,'” said Durant, suggesting Brady’s presence might have instantly made the Celtics an attractive option. “Just seeing someone so successful at his craft. He’s a great ambassador for the game of football and the city of Boston. It’s great to be in the presence of such greatness. But at the same time, I knew I couldn’t let that distract me.”"

Durant, a noted Washington Redskins fan from the D.C. area, went on further and praised the Celtics for what they currently have in Boston and was intrigued by the thought of joining All-Stars Isaiah Thomas and the newly-signed Al Horford to form a formidable challenge to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference.

“I just liked the way they play. I liked their coach [Brad Stevens]. I thought they had some good people,” Durant said.

When in doubt, just call up Tom Brady to (almost) solve all of your problems.
