Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 21 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox (4,300): Boston and Colorado players are sure to be popular in Thursday’s contests, so it’s no surprise to see Pedroia and DJ LeMahieu as the top two options. Pedroia is 2-for-3 with a double in his career against Minnesota Twins righty Tyler Duffey (5-6, 5.23 ERA). He’s also hitting .304 against righties this season.

DJ LeMahieu, Rockies (4,100): LeMahieu has owned Atlanta Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz (3-3, 3.70 ERA) over his career. The Rockies second baseman is 5-for-7 against the young Braves pitcher. That alone makes him worth rostering, but add in the Coors Field factor, and LeMahieu becomes an elite play.

High Value

Gordon Beckham, Braves (3,700): We don’t often recommend Braves players in DFS, but on a short Thursday slate in a game at Coors Field, Beckham is worth a look. He’s reached double-digit DK points in three of his last six starts and draws a favorable matchup against the hittable Chad Bettis (7-6, 5.55 ERA). Beckham is an interesting option on Thursday.

Jed Lowrie, Athletics (2,500): Lowrie is one of the cheapest batters available on Thursday, regardless of position. His upside is somewhat limited, simply because he lacks power. But he is hitting nearly .300 (.296) against left-handers this season, making him a viable GPP punt play against Tampa Bay Rays lefty Matt Moore (5-7, 4.33 ERA).
