Identifying the top high salary and value first baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 21 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

David Ortiz, Red Sox (5,600): Ortiz always seems to be one of the highest-priced batters at any position on DraftKings, but he still delivers value most of the time. He’s a great play on a short Thursday slate at home against Minnesota Twins righty Tyler Duffey (5-6, 5.23 ERA). “Big Papi” is hitting .346 against righties this season. Start him with confidence.

Wil Myers, Padres (4,800): The 25-year-old Myers is finally putting together the season baseball fans have been waiting for since he won the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 2013. Health is a major reason why, but he’s also been more consistently dangerous at the plate this season. On Thursday, he’ll face St. Louis Cardinals veteran Adam Wainwright, against whom he is 2-for-2 with a home run in his career.

High Value

Miguel Cabrera, Tigers (4,400): It’s been a quiet month for “Miggy,” who has failed to reach double-digit DK points since July 1. He should be happy to see Chicago White Sox right-hander James Shields (4-11, 5.10 ERA) on Thursday though. Cabrera is 20-for-57 (.351) with nine doubles and two home runs against Shields.

Next: All-Time 25-Man MLB Roster

Steve Pearce, Rays (3,100): In his two games since returning from the disabled list, Pearce is a combined 3-for-9 with 32 DK points. Moving from the thin air of Colorado to Oakland contributed to the sharp drop in his salary. The matchup with right-hander Sonny Gray (4-8, 5.12 ERA) isn’t easy, but Pearce is hitting .301 against righties. He’s a reasonable GPP play.
