Identifying the top high salary and value catcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 22 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

J.T. Realmuto, Marlins (4,700): Realmuto ranks first and second among all major league catchers in hits (96) and average (.315), respectively, but he’s limited by his lack of home runs (five; tied for 22nd among catchers). Realmuto has hit double digits in DK points in three of his last seven games. He’s a solid play Friday against New York Mets righty Logan Verrett (3-6, 4.21 ERA), against whom he is 2-for-5 in his career.

Wilson Ramos, Nationals (3,900): Ramos is the only catcher with a higher batting average (.329) than Realmuto. He enters play Friday on a nine-game hitting streak, but he’s produced modest DK numbers over that stretch, reaching double digits in fantasy points just once. Ramos, who is hitting .344 versus right-handers, has plenty of upside Friday against San Diego Padres righty Luis Perdomo (3-4, 7.36 ERA).

High Value

Tucker Barnhart, Reds (3,200): This is definitely a GPP-only play, but there’s upside here for Barnhart against young Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Archie Bradley (3-5, 4.37 ERA). Cincinnati’s expected run total (5.0) is one of the higher figures on the board Friday, so this should be a high-scoring game at Great American Ball Park. The switch-hitting Barnhart has seven hits in his last six starts.

Sandy Leon, Red Sox (3,100): He’s back! At this point, Leon has a daily reservation in this column space. But come on, how can we not recommend him at this price? Leon went 2-for-4 with a home run and 26 DK points on Thursday and, amazingly, his price actually dropped by 100. He’s a smart play Friday against Minnesota Twins right Kyle Gibson (2-6, 5.12 ERA).
