You couldn’t ask for a more perfect Baseball Hall of Fame moment than the one Ken Griffey Jr. delivered as he was inducted in the 2016 class

When you think about the illustrious, prolific, and iconic MLB career of Ken Griffey Jr., there are so many things that come to mind. You think about the left-handed swing that every kid of a certain age tried to replicate at one point or another, you think about him climbing the wall to make acrobatic catches in centerfield, and you think of course about the backwards baseball cap.

So as Ken Griffey Jr. was inducted into the 2016 Baseball Hall of Fame class on Sunday, it was fitting that the kid would deliver one final memorable moment in a manner that only he could pull off.

Junior talked about his career and how it was all “making a kid’s dream come true.” Then came the exclamation point as Griffey put on the Hall of Fame cap backwards, because there’s no other that would have been really acceptable:

Obviously there have been great Hall of Fame moments before, but this might just be the most perfect of them all. Ken Griffey Jr. wearing his cap backwards is one of the lasting images in baseball from his days as a player. So for him to punctuate his career by doing that at the Hall of Fame is everything you could ask for and more.
