Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins for new Universal Championship set for WWE SummerSlam

Finn Balor and Seth Rollins will meet at WWE SummerSlam to determine who will be crowned the newly minted WWE Universal Championship

With the brand split taking place after the WWE Draft, there were questions of what each show planned to do to try and steal the show at WWE SummerSlam 2016.

We would start getting our answers at the very beginning of WWE RAW from Pittsburgh as they announced the new WWE Universal Championship. Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley then added that eight men would compete in two separate Fatal 4-Way matches and then face off in the main event to see who would face off with Seth Rollins at WWE SummerSlam for the Universal belt.

Despite having to first go up against the likes of Kevin Owens, Rusev, and Cesaro in his Fatal 4-Way and despite having to face Roman Reigns in the main event, it was ultimately Finn Balor that came through to win on WWE RAW and punch his ticket for a date with Seth Rollins at WWE SummerSlam:

This is obviously enormous news for WWE SummerSlam and for Finn Balor. RAW was his first time fully on the main roster and since going No. 5 overall in the draft and oh boy did they make it clear that he’s going to be a big deal.

Obviously WWE was never going to “let fans down” at a show like WWE SummerSlam, but they’re in the process of stealing the show after putting this one on the card already.
