Several top NFL stars look like they will be off the field for a long time, and it has nothing to do with injuries and everything to do with money.

If the Kansas City Chiefs are going to overtake the rival Denver Broncos in the AFC West this year, the road may get a little bumpier if their star safety continues to stay off the field. News out of the Midwest came that Eric Berry, who was the Comeback Player of the Year in 2015 after his bout with cancer, is reportedly set to sit out of training camp.

One of the issues could be that Berry has some hurt feelings over the team reportedly asking for him to pay for his own disability policy that would make the team its beneficiary. Berry declined, and contract negotiations stalled after that.

Meanwhile, the New York Jets continue to get nowhere in their contract talks with quarterback Ryan Fitzparick. The debate has raged over what Fitzy is worth after a season where Gang Green was within one game of the playoffs in 2015, but he reportedly wants much more than the team is willing to pay.

Essentially, the 33-year-old Fitzpatrick wants franchise quarterback money and the Jets aren’t biting at giving the career journeyman top dollar.

While those two stars won’t be seeing the field for training camp at this point, one veteran wide receiver has found a new home for what may be his final season. Anquan Boldin, after spending the last three seasons with San Francisco, inked a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions.

Boldin visited several other teams, including the New Orleans Saints, but will likely get more catches than he would at any other spots thanks to the fact the Lions are looking for a replacement for recently retired star Calvin Johnson – something that will likely have to be done by committee.

Another face in a new place is former top overall draft pick Jake Long. The offensive tackle, who spent 2015 with the Atlanta Falcons after playing for the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams, signed a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, as the team works to replace recently released Eugene Monroe.

It appears that the options are becoming few and far between for former Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy. After rumors the Washington Redskins were looking at him as an injury replacement, the team denied those reports – meaning the clock is ticking on any chance for Hardy to find a new team.

Finally, the award for dumbest player of the week may go to new Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham. According to a report from NBCMiami.com, Bradham was part of a group that allegedly assaulted a hotel employee on Miami Beach for –wait for it — bringing them their umbrella too slowly.

Bradham was reportedly caught when officials checked his credit card receipt, as he used the card to purchase the umbrella for use. He was released from jail after turning himself to authorities in Monday evening.
