After Chris Sale cut up the 1976 throwback jerseys for the Chicago White Sox this past Saturday, a fan became a legend by wearing the jersey … and then some.

In terms of sports stories, not many will rank ahead of Chris Sale’s jersey-cutting incident in the White Sox clubhouse this past weekend in terms of hilarity and utter weirdness. It was one of those you-can’t-make-this-up stories that had everyone laughing.

Fans over the past couple of days have parodied the Sale jersey situation, but a fan at Tuesday’s game between the White Sox and the crosstown rival Cubs took the clubhouse lead in parodied jerseys.

Between the sign that says, “You’re right Chris, these jerseys are uncomfortable”, the jersey itself and then the all-important stomach flash from this fan, it’s a perfect storm of comedy and I personally hope the White Sox give this fan season tickets for the rest of his life.

Sale was suspended for the next five days after the incident, which was hilarious in itself because starting pitchers in baseball usually pitch every five days anyway.

It’s been a weird year for Sale. The jersey-cutting scene that would look proper in a Major League film and the infamous Drake LaRoche situation during spring training that came right before Adam LaRoche’s retirement from the game of baseball. Sale was furious at the Sox for kicking the younger LaRoche out of the dugout, then last weekend happened.

What’s also funny: If the season ended today, Chris Sale would probably the AL Cy Young Award winner. That just makes his season even more odd.

Maybe he and the fan could talk to Rick Hahn, Kenny Williams and the White Sox management brass about compromising with the uniform selections for the rest of the season. The fan presented a solid case on Tuesday.
