When will the winner of the 2016 Heisman trophy be announced?

The Heisman trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football in the United States whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The ceremony takes place in Lower Manhattan, New York every year. This year, the award will be announced on December 10, 2016, at 8 PM. The finalists for the trophy will be announced on Monday, December 5, 2016.

The Monday that the finalists will be announced is the first Monday after the college football season, and the day the winner is announced is the first Saturday after the regular season.

This year, the odds show DeShaun Watson, Leonard Fournette, and Christian McCaffery being the primary favorites to win the award.  Last year, McCaffery and Watson finished in second and third place respectively behind the winner of the award, Derrick Henry.

While those two, along with freak running back Fournette deserve the pre-season praise they are getting, there is still a group of sleepers. We have the highly accurate Brad Kaaya from Miami, and the Sophomore sensation at quarterback, Josh Rosen from UCLA.

Baker Mayfield and Chad Kelly have outside shots as more mobile quarterbacks. Then there is Dalvin Cook and Nick Chubb. Chubb is coming off of injury, but it could be argued that these two backs are as talented, if not more so than the two favorites mentioned above. It should be a great college football season as we sort out who deserves to be on that stage in New York.
